Position Title: Software Test Manager

Reports to:      SR. VP, R&D

Position Overview

The Software Test Manager will be primarily responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. Managing 2-3 direct reports, this role requires evaluating engineering systems, analyzing results, and maintaining testing equipment, directly impacting the safety and performance standards of our products.

Duties and Responsibilities   

The following are the major responsibilities needed for the role.  Additional responsibilities, tasks, and duties will be assigned and required as needed. 

  • Manage team performance to meet business objectives.
  • Set up the Test department environment, framework, and personnel.
  • Establish performance and quality criteria for software products.
  • Create and execute quality tests based on appropriate protocols.
  • Create the automated build, deployment, and test framework and environment.
  • Prepare and maintain testing equipment for accurate and efficient testing procedures.
  • Work with the cross-functional team for optimum test criteria and requirement evaluation
  • Create and update Test documentation for notified body submission.
  • Perform troubleshooting to identify and resolve validation issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout the validation process.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians on projects to optimize software performance.

 Experience, Education and Skills Required 

Below are the minimum skills, formal education, certifications or training, and practical experience required to perform the general functions and duties of the role.  

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of leadership and team management
  • Ability to devise test plans for multi-vendor environments and optimize test coverage.
  • Proven track of troubleshooting issues and offering constructive feedback to the development team.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Relevant experience as a test engineer/lead or similar roles, with a focus on software tests preferred.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and A-SPICE reference models is a must.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the full lifecycle experience in the medical device industry.
  • Proficient in testing, validating, debugging, and configuring software products within an agile environment.
  • Experience conducting functional, interoperability, multi-D scale, and performance tests.
  • Devotion to continual improvement of quality processes and test beds.
  • Skill in generating validation documentation, plans, and reports.
  • Dedication to maintaining consistency in validation processes across various systems and projects.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and familiarity with MATLAB is a plus.

 Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum new hire pay for the position located in California. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location, additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
