Position Overview
The Hardware Engineer, Senior Principal will be a leading member of a small engineering team developing a new generation of cardiac electrophysiology equipment based on EnChannel’s existing DePolar and NanoAblate products. Focus will be on the computational and processing core of the hardware platforms, involving re-engineering where feasible, and re-design where necessary, to improve efficiency, reliability and functionality, and to liberate processing cycles and space for planned revisions to the system design.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following are the major responsibilities needed for the role. Additional responsibilities, tasks, and duties will be assigned and required as needed.
- Lead engineering design reviews to support the company’s Quality processes.
- Communicate with senior management as the owner of overall digital processing design.
- Design maintenance and record-keeping.
- Responsible for interfacing the hardware engineering group with the main workstation software team.
- Collaborate with R&D on comprehensive self-test and self-calibration methods for the next generation of EnChannel products.
- Lead the engineering team through hardware verification against performance, efficiency, maintainability and manufacturability requirements.
- Deliver regular and constructive feedback, both positive and for areas of improvement, to help engineers understand their progress and development needs.
- Provide mentorship and guidance on navigating challenges and solving complex problems, leveraging personal experience and expertise.
Education, Experience and Skills Required
Below are the minimum skills, formal education, certifications or training, and practical experience required to perform the general functions and duties of the role.
- MSEE and 15+ years in professional electronics environments.
- Familiarity with the use of a QMS (e.g., QCBD) for both hardware and software.
- Experience with high channel count precision real-time signal processing systems.
- Experience in the use and validation of high-speed serial interfaces.
- Experience of working on capital medical and biomedical equipment under an IEC-60601 regulatory framework.
- Extensive familiarity with DSP (ADI), FPGA (Xilinx) and MPSOC (Zynq) devices and their development tools.
- Ability to analyze existing designs and systems forensically, to plan changes and improvements.
- Use of standard MS Office tools especially Word and Excel.
- Exceptional listening and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and general electronics aptitude.
